Privacy policy

Effective August 22, 2026. Last updated September 4, 2026. This policy covers Huusli 1.0.

About this notice

Huusli stores the information you and your household add so the app can keep chores, lists, notes, expenses, reminders, and shared spaces in sync.

What data Huusli may store

Depending on which features you use, Huusli may store: account info; homes and members; rooms and notes; tasks and chores; lists and supplies; expenses; receipt photos (if attached); reminders; notification device registration (if enabled); calendar data (if enabled); scanner data (if used); feedback messages.

Where your data lives

  • Huusli's database and server functions are hosted with Supabase in Zurich, Switzerland (AWS eu-central-2).
  • Sign-in code emails are sent via Resend (EU processing region).
  • Opt-in diagnostics use EU-hosted endpoints (Sentry in Germany, PostHog in the EU).

Cookies

  • Huusli uses necessary cookies and local storage for secure sessions and app preferences. If optional rewarded ads are enabled, Google's consent platform stores your advertising privacy choices.
  • If you begin setup before creating an account, your onboarding answers (such as home name, home type, timezone, currency, and room counts) are kept in your browser for up to 7 days so you can finish. This stays on your device and is not sent to Huusli until you create your account.
  • Error and usage diagnostics are off by default and run only if you opt in from Settings. You can withdraw that consent there at any time.

Services used

  • Sign-in uses one-time email codes. Supabase Auth manages identity and Resend delivers the code emails. Firebase remains available as a legacy sign-in fallback during a transition period.
  • Supabase is used for app data storage and server-side actions.
  • The web app is delivered by Netlify, and sign-in requests pass through Cloudflare.
  • Google Calendar integration is optional and only used if you choose to connect it.
  • Open Food Facts may be used for optional barcode product lookup.
  • Sentry (error diagnostics) and PostHog (product analytics) run only if you opt in from Settings.
  • Apple Push Notification service delivers optional notifications to the iOS app if you enable them.
  • Apple processes Nest subscriptions and RevenueCat validates purchase status and household entitlements.
  • Google Mobile Ads and its consent platform are used only for an optional, user-requested rewarded scan when that feature is enabled.

Who can see shared data

  • Information added to a shared Huus is visible to active members of that Huus.
  • Shared history, such as chores or expenses, may remain visible to other members after you leave so their records stay intact.
  • The Huusli team may access logs or records only when needed to operate the service, fix bugs, or respond to support requests.

Household activity and change history

  • Changes to shared Huus settings (the cleaning plan, household type, currency, timezone, reward rules, and the simple-payments toggle) are recorded with who made the change and the previous and new value. Any active member can view this history; an owner or admin can use it to roll a change back.
  • Security-relevant membership events (role changes, member removal, ownership transfer, invite-code regeneration, family-member changes, and expense or kid-access visibility changes) are recorded the same way and shown read-only.
  • This history is used for household transparency and to keep an audit trail of shared and security-relevant changes. Entries are kept for the life of the Huus; after account deletion the identifier of the person who made a change no longer resolves to an account.

Children and family accounts

  • Huusli is not directed at children under 16 as a standalone service. You must be at least 16 to create your own account. Younger household members can only take part inside a household that a parent or legal guardian creates and manages.
  • A parent or guardian controls what a managed member's profile can see or do (see household roles and "View as" in Settings).
  • Huusli does not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child outside of a parent-managed household. If you believe a child has provided information to Huusli outside this model, contact support@huusli.app so we can review and remove it.
  • A parent or guardian can review, export, or delete a managed member's data from Settings, or by contacting support@huusli.app.

Ads and premium features

  • Nest is an optional household subscription purchased through Apple. Huusli never receives your payment-card details; RevenueCat receives purchase and entitlement information.
  • You may start an optional 14-day Nest trial. It needs no payment method, one trial per Huus, and the Huus returns to Basic automatically when the trial ends unless the owner subscribes. No charge is made for the trial.
  • If you are a member but not the billing owner, you can send the Huus owner one in-app request to enable Nest. You are identified to the owner in that request (by the name or email other members of your Huus already see). You can send another request after 30 days; the owner can ignore it.
  • When rewarded scans are enabled, a Basic household that has used its included weekly scans may choose to watch one non-personalized rewarded ad. Nest never requests ads, and declining never blocks the included Basic workflow.
  • Only after you choose the reward may Google Mobile Ads receive technical information such as IP-derived coarse location, device or app identifiers, diagnostics, ad views, and interactions for ad delivery, fraud prevention, and analytics.
  • Huusli uses Google's consent platform before requesting ad inventory. Advertising remains disabled unless both independent Huusli safety switches are enabled.

Google Calendar sync

  • Google Calendar sync is optional and can be disconnected from Settings at any time.
  • When enabled, reminder or event titles and schedule details may be sent to Google Calendar, and updates from already-synced events may be pulled back into Huusli.
  • Huusli does not use Google Calendar data for advertising or AI training.

Handbook and shared notes

  • Handbook entries, room notes, and similar shared notes are visible to active members of the relevant Huus.
  • These notes are meant for household coordination, not as a password manager or secure vault.
  • Do not store passwords, banking details, government identity numbers, recovery codes, door or alarm codes, private keys, or other high-risk secrets in Huusli.

Barcode and receipt scanning

  • Barcode scanning uses your camera only while the scanner is open. Huusli does not store camera images or video.
  • Barcode values may be sent to Open Food Facts for product lookup and may be stored to enforce scan limits.
  • Receipt scanning runs OCR in the browser. The photo itself is not uploaded for OCR.
  • If you confirm a receipt scan, Huusli may store OCR text, parsed items, confirmed items, and scan metadata for app functionality, debugging, and feature-limit enforcement. If you save items from the scan as expenses, Huusli may also attach a copy of the receipt photo to those expenses. See "Expense receipt photos" below.

Expense receipt photos

  • You can optionally attach a photo of a receipt to an expense, either manually from Add Expense, or automatically when you save items from a scanned receipt.
  • The photo is resized and compressed on your device before upload, then stored with Supabase in Zurich, Switzerland, the same as other Huusli data.
  • A receipt photo is visible to active members of the Huus who can view that expense.
  • Receipt photos are automatically deleted 30 days after upload, for every plan. See "How long data is kept" below.

Data export and deletion

You can download your data from Settings. You can also request account deletion from Settings, which removes your personal app data where possible and attempts to remove your login account. User-scoped integrations such as calendar feed tokens, Google Calendar connections, and push subscriptions are removed. Some shared household records may stay in shared form when needed for other members. You can contact support@huusli.app for help with deletion requests.

How long data is kept

  • Household content (tasks, lists, notes, expenses, rooms) is kept for the life of the household and removed when the household is deleted or through account deletion.
  • In-app notifications are removed after 90 days at the latest.
  • Household setting-change and membership-event history is kept for the life of the Huus and is removed when the Huus is deleted.
  • Receipt scan text and parsed items are scrubbed after 30 days; scan records are deleted after 90 days.
  • Attached receipt photos are automatically deleted 30 days after upload for every plan, including Nest. This is separate from how long your expense history itself is kept. A photo is also removed sooner if you delete its expense. Deleting your account does not pull a shared expense's receipt photo out from under the other members; it is removed by the 30-day rule or when that expense is deleted.
  • Sign-in codes expire after 10 minutes and are single-use. Stale device registrations are removed after 180 days of inactivity.
  • Account deletion removes your personal data, unlinks your login, and leaves only anonymized traces where shared household records require them.

Your rights

  • You can access, export, correct, and delete your data. Export and deletion are available directly in Settings.
  • For any privacy request, email support@huusli.app. We respond within 30 days.
  • You can also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. In Switzerland, this is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).

Who is responsible

Important limitations

  • Huusli should not be used to store highly sensitive information such as passwords, access codes, government identity numbers, recovery codes, private keys, or financial credentials.
  • Huusli does not currently use AI to process your data.
  • The only file upload Huusli currently supports is an optional receipt photo attached to an expense. No other file or image upload features are currently supported.
